Between Masjid and temples

Dana masjid: Khairy tolak penjelasan Nga

BN and PR - a good 2 system party

Recently both BN and PR showed their wishlist to the public . PR during their 1st National Convention on 19th December and BN on its NKRP exhibition - both being held in Klang Valley now govern by PR.

Its for the people to judge and pick the right government by mid 2011 if what Penang CM's prediction turns correct.

I am really touched by Lim's speech during PR's convention.

While , thats the case in PR - PM Najib seems to be doing things all alone or being assisted by his KPI ministers only ... maybe its time for - cabinet reshuffle.

UM-HEAD OF INDIAN STUDIES ISSUE

what the sole Indian minister has to say ;-
UM promised to resolve Indian Studies Dept issue
Dr S Subramaniam Jul 6, 09 7:52pm
This is in response to news reports in the local Tamil dailies today which mentioned that the head of the Indian Studies Department in University Malaya, Dr S Kumaran has been replaced by a non-Indian from the same university.I agree that the appointment of a non-Indian to the post has created uneasiness and unhappiness among the Indian community.I have spoken to the vice-chancellor of University Malaya Ghauth Jasmon today and requested that a suitable Indian lecturer be appointed to the post.Ghauth has agreed to resolve the issue as soon as possible.Ghauth told me that Dr Kumaran's replacement was an administrative issue but he promised to look into my request seriously.I am happy with the assurance given by Ghauth that the matter would be resolved quickly.I attribute the problem to the lack of cooperation among the teaching faculty of the department.Dr S Subramaniam is the Human Resources Minister and the MIC secretary-general.

Teaching Hinduism in schools

Dear friends,

the PROBLEM /CHALLENGE ;

This morning I was reading a weekly Malay women magazine called Majalah Wanita ... there is one thought provoking article - true story. ... [nothing new]

a new convert relate his reason for converting to a new religion ;

AND ...
he further claims that his whole family were planning to convert into Christianity due to ouverty during his deep involvement in Islam ..." Ibu dan bapanya merupakan penganut Hindu yang taat...sehinggalah dia mengetahui bahawa ibu bapanya bertukar agama kerana masalah kewangan dan kemorosotan dalam perniagaan"
page 112 , Majalah Wanita June 2009

the SOLUTION

Malaysia Hindudharma Mamandram initiated a module for primary 1-6 on teaching hinduism in primary schools. The plan was completed years ago and Mandram was tabling the same to the Ministry of Education. Recently Mandram under the leadership of Dr.NS Rajendran submitted the proposal to the then Education Minister YB Hishammudin.

Mandram on his on effort has conducted module training and experiment the sylabus before submitting for goverment's approval.

As a responsible Hindu , we must support the noble and sincere work of Mandram and give our sincere commitment to make this project a success. WE should, via our parliment representives, NGO leaders, temples and schools voice our support for this project to materialise

We hope the people-first government will view the teaching of religious lessons for all pupil as their priority too.

When a child is taught the basic and fundamental values of Hindu Dharma we can wipe out case or cases like in the above article.

weekly off day for malaysian maid...

The Human resources minister has suggested to enforce a weekly once off-day for domestic maid working in Malaysia. Today's paper carries views from the employers - majority disagreed with their own - perhaps valid reasons...

First and foremost , dealing with maids are not easy... especially the worker-employer gender is the same - female... I am not saying all but majority are difficult to manage...

As employer , please treat maid with some respect. Like :-

a. assigned specific jobs for them ; like you employ a clerk in your office you have job discription right? ..i have seen maid - doing house work ,washing cars, lorries and van .. attending the the employer's kids and also the husband's need??

b. do not ask your maid to work in your relative or friend's house whenever you visit them...

c. talk to them and understand their need and requirement - respect their privacy

d. do not over pamper your maid - draw a line BUT no slavery treatment

e. A one day off - can be even in your house - let her relax....

think about it!!

MINISTER NAZRI BETTER KNOW THE MEANING OF MERIT

Last night parliment debate and today's news report says that Minister in charge of parliment affairs YB Nazri has declared that there wasnt any special selection for government scholarship for the 20% of the app 2000 awards allocated based on merit.

He further claimed that non-Bumi gain more than the Bumi - not really relevant - if its merit ;means merit - we [people] will take it without any discriminative thinking because its MERIT.

20% from the total is only 40 awards ; leaving 1600 on what merit?? , God knows!

One wonder - if the selection is on merit there is no issue of criteria ; every Malaysian is clear about it , the question is how the balance 1600 is given out - where is the transperancy?
YOU cannot give out award to crony and nominee of political leaders ...

QUALITIES OF A MALAYSIAN INDIAN LEADER

Now that the 'largest' indian based political party is in the search of a new leader when its over-stayed President will be [hopefully] retiring soon ?

I would like to describe an Ideal leader with the folowing qualities as the next Deputy president and president-in-waiting ...

a. A gradute
b. Younger than the present president
c. a non-smoker and drinker [alcohol]
d. Corruption free
e. speaks well in BM,English and Tamil
f. Not practicing CAST based politic
g. Declare assets - local and foreign to public before contesting
h. Having one - single legal wife & good family image and history
i. People first attitude
j. Stays for not more than 2 terms in power as president
k. Capable to unite all small political parties under one umbrella - the present president has failed miserably
l. Know the need and demand of the people - and capable to act
m.Must have guts to tell the government off if action does not serve the people well

ANY ONE THERE?

Please declare your stand : but poor people ; the No 2 in MIC is decided by a bunch of delegates ... they really do not represent the people - malaysian indians... so what story?
NOTHING CHANGE for the party....

when your time is UP

I told many of my friends that TUN M is 'merajuk' with LKY 's visit to Malaysia. The Mentor Minister is on a week long stay in our country and he has met BN,and PR leaders ..

I guess he has other agenda besides his nostalgic tour to some places in our country. LKY is here to talk business too. Tun M and Tun AB cannot blame the najib government for not allowing them to do a similar visit to foreign nations on behalf of the country... LKY upon his retirement has accepted the more junior post as a cabinet minister and has been working as a cabinet member till today ... so there is a different between our ex-PM and Singapore's ex PM ... so people too do not have to be concerned about the role of our ex Pms ... one must still work hard .....

crimes are committed by individual entrusted by people. The government should stop allocating post and projects to political parties - cronies ; Port Klang Free Zone looks like being run by MCA for BN? this perception need to be addressed and the culprit be punished - here or in HELL ...lets pray to God.

1Malaysia - Opportunity to change

Many were asking me if the 1Malaysia slogan by the new PM is for real? My simple answer is -you must believe in it ; give a try and support the noble thinking of the PM.

There is one opinion saying PM is a lone ranger in this campaign ; I told him - if the people are with him then no MPs or ministers will have the guts to 'boycott' him

So , rakyat should give PM najib a chance to make his dream for 1Malaysia materialise - in less than 30 days he has come out with some major moves that favors people - it shows he knows the pulse and feeling of the rakyat....

For a country of more than 50 years as a free nation , it gives us a status of a maturity in thinking and conducting ourselves.

For the Indian community , what has happen - was a bitter lessons for all- gone are the days politicians survive just by lip service - The community must be awaken to work with fellow Malays and Chinese into facing global competition.....and of course the community is ever ready to bid their 'leader' Samy Vellu a farewell soon. very soon

Declining standard of English in Malaysia

You blame the system. English was treated as a non-compulsary subject ;equalent to an art or a moral subject. You can move further even if you failed in your exams.

The method used to teach English was to get people thru the exam rather than having good command of the language - both written and spoken.

As a result many school leavers speak poor English.

Look at our fellow ASEAN members - take Indonesia for that matter ; their group of educated people speak good English- just watch their government officials ; MPs and ministers speaks- well in English while maintain their ability to speak in Bahasa Indonesia.

AS such it was the policy before that has short term political milage that destroyed our standard of English

The victim - children from middle class and poor families .

samy vs chitra

The MIED andMIC has a BIG problem here.
The party has to answer to new alligations by now suspended CEO of MIED... read more from staronline .

KUALA LUMPUR: A woman MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu promoted to high office is now threatening him with law suits and police reports over his financial and political dealings.
P. Chitrakala Vasu, 38, told a press conference on Saturday that she was innocent of the accusations of mismanaging MIED, the party’s education arm that manages the AIMST University in Kedah and other colleges, and of construction cost over-runs.
“I am clean… it is Samy Vellu who has to answer these accusations. He is the MIED chairman and he has to answer,” she said.
Chitrakala is on leave from her job as CEO of MIED, which she has headed for 15 years.
“The MIED has grown and expanded under my management and is now worth RM1bil. It belongs to the MIC and the Indian community,” she said refuting claims that the MIED was an independent entity.
Samy Vellu alleged recently that files and a sum of RM5mil was missing from the MIED. He also alleged impropriety in the awarding of contracts for AIMST University.
MIED director and MIC vice-president Datuk S. Sothinathan lodged two police reports earlier this month alleging MIED files were missing along with RM5mil.
Police recorded statements from various MIED officials, including Samy Vellu, who was interviewed for nearly five hours last week.
Chitrakala said her relations with Samy Vellu turned sour after the MIC suffered massively during the March 8, 2008 general election which saw Samy Vellu himself losing his Sungei Siput seat.
She said she incurred his wrath when she resisted Samy Vellu’s moves to change MIED members and directors, move the MIED out of the MIC building and disconnect MIED from the MIC.
She said she was “very scared” of Samy Vellu even as she was willing to criticise her former boss publicly.
She was also going public because she feared she would be blamed for all sorts financial and other improprieties connected with the MIED.
“I don’t want to be the fall guy,” she said.
Chitrakala lodged two police reports in Subang on Saturday morning

THE PM designate

Yesterday, on Maha Sivarathi day [an auspicious Hindu festival] the PM in waiting YAB Datuk Seri Najib Razak has made some announcement – I should say specific announcement for the well being of Indian community.

The community known for its undivided SUPPORT AND LOYALTY to the government will once again expect the promises made turn into reality.

Datuk Seri Najib has specifically mentioned about allocation of extra RM 20 million for living skills and ways in increasing numbers in civil sector.

The Umno President-elect has also promised that government will look into complaints that the police were targeting Indian Malaysians ..

This is the right time for our PM to come with new approach to ensure ‘rakyat’ benefit directly from all his promises that will transform thru many ‘packages’. The new PM has to identify mechanism that will act as an independent body to monitor and report on all projects designated for the community.

Let us hope and pray that YAB Datuk Seri Najib will bring peace, progress and unity by introducing drastic changes in policies and practices that had been hindrance to nation building.

God Bless Malaysia

health check - malaysia

The main stream media has started to throw tips on managing funds. People treated on ways to control spending and be more prudent.

The media also need to check on traders , merchants and wholesellers attitude and contirbution during the time of weak economy facing the country and nation.

At last FM DS najib agreed that we are below 3% on GDP target for this fin year.

With the mini budget to be anounced soon - we call upon all media to focus on addressing economic and financial issues more than political .

Both BN and PR need to join force in ensuring proper distribution of funds given out in the stimulus package II

Please stay UNITED

colorful malaysia - full of drama

You can only see this in malaysia : all over the world you can only see this in our beloved country

1. A chinese legislator - state minister in Selangor offered her resignation over a semi nude photos taken in private by her 'ex-friend. The culprit released the photo is still at large . Now the politician is on leave and will know her status on 25th Feb .

2. An indian state speaker in Perak suspended the state's CM and a few bunch of state ministers from attending state assembly for a period of more that a year>>

3. A pakistani Prof has called for " snap election; in the state concerned or to be ruled by emergency ordinance upon the approval from the King.

4. Veteran politician Samy Vellu announced his party's presidential election will be held on 12th April and he is or maybe will defend the post .

5. A major TV station TV3 showed more interest in the issue of semi nude pics of a politician than the economic affairs raised by the PM in waiting - Najib

bread and butter

Yesterday I received a call from a friend asking to deposit RM300 by 7 pm into his account. He has to pay back to a money lender . Very rare. He has a steady job and never had this difficulty before. On my may to the bank in Jalan Sg Besi KL , one Chinese man stopped by and asked for RM5 ; he was pushing his bike and he has no money for fuel - petrol. I gave him RM5 and saw him going to the petrol station to get the tank filled.

It make me wonder :
Here , we are going thru a very tight and difficult time but our policy makers are busy politicing.

Peguam Negara, Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail hari ini mengklasifikasikan kes kematian Kugan Ananthan dalam tahanan polis, sebagai kes bunuh.LAGI

The above statement was captured from Malaysiakini webnews today.

May God bless his soul. There are two major issues here that we need to take address in order to avoid repeat incident.

1. The state of police - people demand for disciplined and dedicated force. There are some out there to tarnish the forces name. PDRM should bring the culprits to book. Increase force intake - recruit more Indian youth into police force .

2. The indian community has a role to play in erradicating crime . Kugan's death shows Unity - I see politicians of all parties were there to meet the families and public. Prompt action by deputy ministers need applaud. By being united we can do wonders - good service to mankind. There is a need to form a team - not to study or research - enough of it!!! to work closely with the community. A team comprises of all political parties. The community must believe that proper education and teaching of good values will erradicate negative values - BUT our poor parents need the support of many NGOs - we need to educate the people -

ponggal in malaysia

Many Malaysian indians celebrated Pongal on 14th Jan in a different style compare to people in India particularly in Tamil Nadu. Pongal is our version of Thanksgiving to Almighty and nature.

Its very symbolic and meaningful to us and is a must for all of us to celebrate as a national festival.

People are more alert and info savy than before. The Y generation is action and result oriented. Global Happenings such as the election of US president is watched closely by people and we appreciate human rights and values.

The Malaysian Indian mindset is changing fast but it is not getting the support of main stream media in this country.

The Malaysian Indian need a Free To Air Television ; like TV3 for Malays and 8TV for Chinese if we are to be seen as equal partner in every field.

people of gaza - pray that arm dealers go to HELL

Watching news on al-jazerra and other international channels over mid nights makes you feel that world is not a safe place to leave. The Israel and Hamas battle has resulted in many innocent childrens and women as victims.

The only power on earth that can influence Israel is US and the all arab nations put together to preassure the war to end.

One wonder if the super power is behind all the conflicts that happens in Sri Lanka , Middle East , South Asia etc .. their weapon industries that manufacture arms and military equipments for sea , air and ground military will benefit from the ongoing wars and conflicts.

If there is no war , conflict and clashes - the demand for arms does not arise. Many developing or even poor nations are spending billions on defence.Like its neighbours in ASEAN Malaysia too spends a lot on defence .

Let us pray that arm dealers will go to HELL

50 years of divide and rule - YB Mike - a victim

One can understand the MP for Kapar's outburst. His nine month old state government is not responding well to his grieviences. Move to quit party state post is a good one at the moment.

YB , looks like you are a victim of ' money is everything' policy practiced by the previous BN government. Every problem cannot be solved by throwing money. This is a bad practice that need to be CHANGED.

Its the duty of state ministers and chief minister to care and manage its subject - rakyat. If they failed its your duty to talk at national level before any outburst in public. As an indian , we want to see a malaysian indian MP act beyond all other material gain ; like a post in GLC etc . The practice of having political appointee to GLC is a bad , bias practice of previous government , whereby majority or all top level posts being offered to people lnked to the party , rakyat is aware of the practice and this is one factor that they were voted out in March. So , YB , be cool and keep your greviences high but discuss with your bosses and clear the mess. We elected you to represent us in parliment effectively. So in 2009 , we expect you to perform much better than 2008. Best wishes YB

welcome 2009

Let us welcome 2009 with new hope for change. May unity, understanding and tolerance become our main agenda in the midst of economy crisis expected to shake our faith and will power.

Stay united and plan every move on financial moves. Lets pray for all -
